Women and Police Station

I would never opt to go to a police station if my life does not taught lots of things to do solely. This is Pakistan, where taking a step towards a police station,  is hard even for a man and he think one thousand times whether to report any crime or complaint or not? For women it’s a far cry to even imagine visiting a police station. This is one of the dilemma of our country and perhaps a greatest reason of increased crime, in order to support crime while not report to the law and authority. The other major reason could be our legal authority when support the crime for some piece of money, however, it is not most of the case but finding an honest police man is as difficult as judgement of Paris.
I recently visited a police station to report against an issue and experienced something I wished never to visit again, found it totally useless to file a complaint against my ex-husband for his threats. It was more mental torture and I felt as if I am giving all incorrect information to them, the way they were investigating me. I was harassed for what I am reporting so how could I believe if I am safe even in a police station. I was watched from head to toe as if I committed a massive crime. It is not just police stations that scare women; it is also the response that they expect to come from the community in general.
I am still not sure whether the complaint against my ex-husband has been filed or not, but the mental torture I felt from them left me with no option but to report and leave the police station without a second delay. Although it is clearly known in society I am living that there is no use of FIR until if something happened critical, which on the other hand, a slap on your face of regretting for your useless action.

I must mention Miss Sumera Jabeen one of our great police women who helped me once and I just felt great about, proud of and we need these kinds of police women in our law & order. She is committed and dedicated to her work. It was more than a merrier tome when I read an article about her on UK based website of www.gov.uk. I wish her good luck in her career and keep the spirit high for her great efforts working for women especially of our society. Here she is: I salute her.
